Like most of you, our family loves starting the day with a cup of coffee. While my husband and I tend to prefer hot coffee in the morning, I’ve always been a big fan of grabbing a Starbucks iced coffee with almond milk or Dunkin iced coffee with almond milk when I’m out and about during the day.

I realized that some mornings we end up having a good amount of leftover coffee if one of us has to leave the house early, and hated to waste it. So instead, I started saving it and making iced coffees at home in the afternoon! Our family drinks almond milk coffee regularly, and we love it.

Coffee drinks are so easy to make at home, especially easy coffee recipes. This easy Iced Coffee with Almond Milk recipe is delicious and super easy to make. It’s the perfect early afternoon pick me up and is so refreshing on a hot summer day.

It’s also a great alternative to regular lattes if you’re looking for a dairy-free or low-calorie alternative. Almond milk is completely plant-based, making this a great vegan option. The slightly nutty flavor and creamy texture blend really well with both hot and cold coffee.

Ingredients needed for Iced Coffee with Almond Milk

You’ll only need a few ingredients for the simple iced coffee recipe:

  • 6-8 ounces of cold coffee
  • ¼ cup to ½ cup of unsweetened almond milk
  • Your preferred sweetener of choice (like sugar or simple syrup)
  • 1 cup of ice cubes

You’ll also need a tall glass and wet measuring cups like these.

You can use whatever kind of cold coffee you would like for this recipe, though I do recommend plain black coffee. Our family using has medium or dark roast coffee at home, but you can also use cold brew coffee or whatever your favorite is from your local grocery store.

The choice to make your coffee using a traditional coffee maker or french press is up to you. Whatever kind you choose, you’ll want to cool the coffee in the refrigerator before making this recipe.

I recommend using regular almond milk for this recipe. However, you can also use any kind of creamer you would like! A few other non-dairy options are oat milk, soy milk and coconut milk.

If you prefer to use dairy, cow’s milk works great.

You can also make an iced coffee using regular coffee and traditional creamer. Keep in mind that if the creamer is already sweetened, you might want to use less and not add any additional sweetener to your drink.

The kind of sweetener you choose to use for this iced coffee with almond milk is entirely up to you. I use plain sugar at home, but brown sugar syrup, simple syrup or even a little maple syrup are all options. If you don’t like things too sweet, this recipe actually tastes great without any kind of extra sweetener, too!

How to Make Iced Coffee with Almond Milk

Ready for this crazy simple recipe?

First, chill a glass in the freezer for 5-10 minutes. For best results, don’t skip this step! It helps make sure the ice melts a little bit slower while you build your drink.

Next, remove the glass from the freezer and add the ice cubes, cold coffee and then the cold almond milk to taste. I recommend starting with 1/4 cup almond milk and adding more if you would like. If you want sweetener, add and then stir well with a tall spoon before enjoying.

While this can of course vary from recipe to recipe, for the most part an iced coffee with almond milk is estimated to come in at about 50 calories. However, for fewer calories, be sure to leave the sweetener out.
