Can You Cook Gorton’s Frozen Fish Fillets in Air Fryer?
If you haven’t tried it yet, making fish in the air fryer is a fast and easy way to cook a variety of types of fish, including fresh and frozen varieties. It does an especially good job with breaded, frozen food, like Air Fryer Tyson Chicken Breast Tenderloins. Unlike cooking them in the conventional oven, which can come out soggy, or deep frying, which can be very unhealthy, using the air fryer makes these dishes perfectly crispy without using any oil.
Plus, clean up is so easy! In just a few minutes I have a tasty and healthier meal ready for my family, with minimal prep dishes to clean up after (always a win).
For this recipe I used Gorton’s Crunchy Breaded 100% Whole Fillets in the resealable bag, made with alaskan pollock and coated in Panko breadcrumb coating. I like using Gorton’s because their seafood products are made with natural ingredients, and none of the “bad stuff” we try to avoid like artificial colors or flavors.
My kids also seem to prefer the natural flavor of their alaskan pollock fillets. Their whole fish fillets really do seem to have an unbeatably fresh taste compared to some other brands. However, I feel pretty confident that you could use the below recipe card with any similar sized frozen breaded fish fillet.
White fish fillets are a good source of protein and natural Omega-3’s, and one of the healthier frozen foods you can get at your local grocery store. These fish fillets literally only have three ingredients: Alaska Pollock fillets, breadcrumb coating (made with wheat flour and yellow corn flour) and vegetable oil!
The Ninja Foodi XL 10 Quart 6-in-1 is the air fryer my family personally owns and loves. The fact that it has two GIANT baskets is a game changer for us for family dinners.
I don’t have to cook our meals in batches, and better yet, the Ninja Foodi allows me to cook two different foods at the same time! I was able to make the fish fillets on one side, and the french fries cooked in the other basket at the same time.

I used these frozen fish fillets to make fish fillet sandwiches for our family. They were quick and easy (and cheap!), using just hamburger buns, lettuce and a little mayonnaise on the bun and tartar sauce. I served them with a side of air fryer French fries. Some people also like to serve breaded fish with sliced lemon wedges.

Cook at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking time. The finished fish will turn a beautiful caramel color!
If you want your final fish fillets to be even crispier with an extra crunch, preheat the air fryer for 4 minutes before adding the frozen fish fillets.

Tips for Making the Best Air Fryer Frozen Fish Fillets
Our family loves breaded fish fillets as an affordable, convenient and quick meal option. Here are a few tips to help you make the best ones!
Be sure not to overcrowd your air fryer basket for best results. The secret to perfectly crispy breading on your Gorton’s Fish Fillets is leaving enough room for the hot circulating air to make its way around each piece of fish. If necessary, cook them in batches for optimal results.
Cooking times may vary based on the thickness of fillets, preference for doneness as well as your individual air fryer or a lower wattage air fryer. Keep an eye on the fish and adjust cooking time as needed. While mine were fully cooked in 10-11 minutes of cooking, thicker pieces might require a longer cooking time.
If you’re concerned about cook time, you want the internal temperature of the fish to be 165°F or higher before serving for food safety.
What To Serve with Gortons Frozen Fish Fillets
The best part about frozen fish fillets is that they are versatile and go with a wide variety of side dishes! My kids love eating them as fish fillet sandwiches, or just the fillets with tartar sauce to dip. You can also chop up the cooked fish and use it as a base for fish tacos!
Some options for side dishes for whole fillet fish include baked potatoes, roasted veggies, French fries, tater tots, salad or fruit, or your own favorite side dish
Tartar sauce is usually served with fried, breaded fish, but you might also enjoy ketchup, lemon butter, or a slice of cheese on top. You can also make your own homemade tartar sauce.
No matter what you choose to pair with it, I hope you enjoy your crispy and delicious fish fillet meal!
