Nori Wraps Recipe (TikTok Sushi Wraps)
Love sushi but not a fan of rolling it yourself at home? Nori wraps are the solution!

I love all Japanese cuisine, but sushi is my very favorite food. I could eat it any time, and love trying new versions. However, I’ve never been the biggest fan of trying to roll my own sushi at home.
It takes a while, uses lots of dishes and half the time my rolls fall apart. So when a friend showed me the viral TikTok sushi wraps, I knew I wanted to try them.
Nori wraps are just as good as sushi, but with half the effort (and no sushi mat necessary). Think of them as a twist on a hand roll or nori roll. They make a great light lunch or snack, and are also a good way to use up leftover rice! Plus, sea vegetables like nori are health foods, making this meal even better for you.

Ingredients Needed for Nori Wraps

To make this easy nori wraps recipe, you’ll need a few ingredients:
- Cooked rice
- Smoked salmon
- Nori sheets (a type of dried edible seaweed)
- Avocado
- Sesame oil
- Rice vinegar
- Cream cheese
- Furikake seasoning
- Salt
- Sugar
I was able to find sheets of nori at our local grocery store in the asian aisle. If you can’t find them at yours, see if there’s an international grocery store or Asian grocery store nearby.
You can also try this as lettuce wraps if you can’t find nori seaweed sheets using big leaves of bibb lettuce or even iceberg! Keep in mind that they’ll taste less like a sushi roll wrap without the umami of the nori.
Any kind of rice can work for this easy recipe. I used leftover white rice, but of course sushi rice would be perfect, as would brown rice.

How to Make Sushi Wraps
In a large bowl, prepare your cooked rice by mixing in the sugar, salt, rice vinegar and oil. Set aside.
Using scissors, make a cut in the nori sheet from the edge to the middle, being careful not to cut to the end.

Starting from the left, place the prepared fillings in each square, starting with one third of the cream cheese. Next add the rice, sprinkling with the furikake seasoning, then a slice of salmon and finally the avocado slices.

Start folding the sheet of nori from the bottom left corner: up, right and down.

Cut the wrap into two parts and serve.

What to Serve with Nori Wraps
The recipe I shared is for a very basic, quick and easy nori wrap. If you want to mix things up, here are some optional ingredients you can try for different variations.
- Strips of baked tofu
- Pickled plum (umeboshi paste)
- Pickled ginger
- Ripe mango
- Cucumber (english cucumber is perfect!)
- Raw red cabbage
- Kimchi
- Crab
- Canned tuna
- Soy sauce
- Hot sauce
I love to serve my nori wraps with a simple spicy mayo. If you’re using canned tuna fish and want a more authentic sushi vibe, spicy mayo or yum yum sauce mixed in is key!
Just prep all of the ingredients you want and assemble each wrap as you go building a single layer of filling ingredients at a time, like you would sandwiches. Depending on your appetite and personal preferences, you might like your nori wraps recipe with more rice or additional toppings.
